Tail Pulse Generator BNC Model BH-1
The Model PB-5 replaces the BH-1. Along with a suite of features and modes, the PB-5 is widely respected for its 155 uV amplitude resolution
- Repetition rate 10 Hz - 1 MHz
- Delay adjustable from -50 ns to 10 ms
- Rise Time 20 ns - 50 µs
- Fall Time 50 ns - 1 ms
- Double Pulse Capability
- Integral linearity of amplitude +/- 0.1%
- Output amplitude: to 9.99 Volt from 50 ohms
- Amplitude jitter: less than 0.002% rms
The Model BH-1 is a precision pulse generator which simulates the broad range of tail pulses encountered in the nuclear field. Several Model BH-1's may be synchronized together to provide test pulses of various shapes and amplitudes to check out a system. Typical applications of the Model BH-1 include: determining the proper timing of linear gates and coincidence units, linearity measurements of amplifiers, threshold setting of discriminators and single channel analyzers, and measuring resolution of low noise preamplifiers.
Of particular interest to those that wish to check pulse pair resolution and recovery time tests is that the BH-1 can operate in a double-pulse mode, with a pair of pulses having a separation varied by the delay controls.
Via an External Reference connector a dc or time-varying signal may be connected to the pulse forming circuit. When the highly linear ramp from Berkeley Nucleonics Model LG-1 is connected, the output is a sliding pulse train (linearly increasing and decreasing amplitude pulses) to 11.7 volts amplitude. The differential linearity of the sliding pulses will be better than 0.25% above 100 mV. The sliding pulse train is one of the most convenient and accurate ways of testing the differential linearity of a pulse height analyzer.
