DESCRIPTION The Model 9010 is a programmable precision pulse generator designed for use in a broad range of applications including physics and chemistry research, automatic test systems, and calibration of nuclear and data acquisition systems and their components. The instrument has two major features that contribute to its versatility and usefulness in these areas - programmability of pulse amplitudes and remote selectability of either a Pulse or DC mode. Pulse amplitudes can be remotely programmed with 1 mV resolution from 0 to ±9.999 V. The Pulse/DC feature allows verification of pulse amplitude with a digital voltmeter. A variety of pulse shapes, variable risetimes, falltimes, widths, and amplitudes, adds to the 9010's versatility. Researchers in physics and chemsitry will find the 9010 highly suited to Pulse Height Analyzer and Multi-Channel Analyzer system calibration where it is periodically necessary to test stability, resolution, and linearity. With the 9010 it is possible to automatically check such systems and to correct the resulting data to minimize system caused errors. The broad range of pulses that the 9010 can produce are typical of those encountered in this area. Automatic test systems users can now choose a precision pulse generator that is programmable. Amplitudes are programmable from 0 to ±9.999 V in 1 mV increments. The DC/Pulse feature provides for precision measurement of pulse amplitudes by providing, at the output connector, a DC level that is equal to the pulse amplitude. This mode is programmable. Control over the pulse repetition rate is achieved when the 9010 is externally triggered. Calibration of nuclear and data acquisition systems and their components is another application of the 9010. Multi-detector systems can be automatically checked before and during experimentation. System components such as amplifiers and ADC's can be routinely checked. |
